Hudson County Community CollegeWelcome to the Jersey City Medical Center/Hudson County Community College Paramedic Program website! As you surf the various pages of this site, you will hopefully gain a sense of the exciting, dynamic and innovative approach our program takes toward pre-hospital education. With a view toward the future of EMS, we offer state-of-the-art classroom technology, inventive teaching paradigms and hands-on, assessment-focused clinical experiences in one of the busiest and most diverse settings in the country.

The new Jersey City Medical Center, is just one of the many examples of how we are forging boldly into the future! This 366,000 square foot, 326 bed acute care facility will allow our Paramedic students to assess and treat patients in the most modern emergency department and cardiac catheterization center in the State of New Jersey.

While the faculty and staff of the JCMC/HCCC Paramedic Program are committed to a vision for the future, we are also very proud of our heritage. Jersey City Medical Center was founded in 1912 as one of the country's premier medical centers to serve the people of Jersey City and Hudson County, New Jersey. Since that time we have grown in many different directions, including serving as the Children's Hospital, Level II Trauma Center and Advanced Life Support EMS provider for the entire county.

Rooted in out heritage and looking toward the future, TODAY we focus on educating competent, confident and compassionate Paramedics who will serve the sick and injured in our local communities. The JCMC/HCCC paramedic program stresses that students demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, sound moral and ethical character, critical thinking abilities, and the capacity for making quick and appropriate decisions regarding patient care. As professional healthcare providers, JCMC/HCCC paramedic graduates are taught how to interact effectively with other emergency services personnel, to be dynamic leaders, to value life-long learning and personal development, and above all to respect and sustain human life.

As the Paramedic Educator, I welcome you to be a part of our rich history and our vision for the future of EMS! If you're interested in joining us, feel free to fill out and submit the application for our Fall 2009 program. We look forward to hearing from you!
