LibertyHealth and NJ FamilyCare Cover Uninsured Children
JERSEY CITY - LibertyHealth Systems Inc. and the Jersey City Medical Center will enroll uninsured children and teens into NJ FamilyCare during the week of July 14, 2008. The quick and easy sign-ups will take place at the LibertyHealth Financial Counseling Charity Care Assistance Office at 953 Garfield Ave. in Jersey City, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
NJ FamilyCare is a health insurance plan offered by the state of New Jersey for uninsured children and teens 18 and younger. NJ FamilyCare insurance covers just about every health care need including doctor visits, eyeglasses, mental health services, prescription drugs and much more.
Forty-seven million Americans are uninsured, including 9 million children. Studies have demonstrated that people without health insurance often delay routine and preventative care until a condition requires costly treatment in an emergency department. More than 80 percent of the uninsured belong to working families.
Participants must bring identification for family members to be enrolled, including proof of income, documentation of assets, social security numbers, immigration documents (if child is not a citizen), and proof of health insurance expiration if applicable.
Jersey City Medical Center is an important part of the community and knows the need for our children to have health insurance as well as proper quality care. Both LibertyHealth and the Jersey City Medical Center are committed to assisting families in obtaining insurance protection.
