Excellent nursing care is a blend of clinical competence, strength and caring. Attaining the appropriate balance requires a certain level of expertise, critical thinking skills and the ability to respond quickly and appropriately. Nurses at Jersey City Medical Center meet this challenge on a daily basis. Jersey City Medical Center nurses demonstrate excellence in service, professionalism and the promotion of evidence-based practice. Our nurses respect and support the surrounding community and embrace the cultural diversity of our patient population. Our nurses are actively involved in the promotion of health and education in the community.

Jersey City Medical Center nurses participate in research projects and performance improvement initiatives. Our shared governance model and council structure promote an autonomous environment in which our nurses can practice. We align ourselves with the organizational goals of clinical quality, patient safety, patient and staff satisfaction and economic health.

I am extremely proud of the strides that our nurses have made toward Magnet Designation. Many of our nursing staff and our nursing management team have attained specialty certifications, and more than 65% of our nursing staff has BSN or MSN degrees. Our nursing staff participates in and assumes leadership roles in many interdisciplinary initiatives. As we move forward into the future, we are prepared to face the challenges in healthcare.
